Prolotherapy is a Better Option than a
$9000 Cervical Epidural!
I recently saw a new patient who told me something I had not heard
before. He received a $9000 cervical epidural. “It was crazy, doc,” he
said. “Before I knew it, I was undergoing general anesthesia. Did it
help me? Heck no!” Does this seem shocking to you? It happens more than
you can to admit!
When I examined this patient, I asked him to raise his arms in front of
his body and observed winging of the right scapula. Right away I knew
cervical spine fusion was not what this guy needed! Can you imagine
that? He received general anesthesia and a surgery for a problem that
could be helped with a relatively non-invasive treatment –
Prolotherapy!
Before undergoing potentially dangerous and extremely expensive
procedures for pain, patients should consider getting a
Prolotherapy evaluation. With rising health care costs, as in the above example, you
may end up paying a good amount of the “covered procedure” - IE a co-pay
of 20% for the cervical epidural cost the patient $1800. For the same
amount of money the person could have had three
Prolotherapy neck
treatments which would most likely resolve the problem or most of it.
If you research steroid injections, like epidurals, you will find that
the likelihood of such a procedure “curing” a person of their pain is
almost zip! It has almost no long lasting
effect.
Prolotherapy, on the other hand, has a long lasting effect.
We studied 98 neck patients who received Prolotherapy. The study
revealed that the
Prolotherapy treatments do indeed last. Go to
www.prolotherapyresearch.com to see the entire study. Some of the
results of the study were the following:
-
Pain levels went from an average of
5.6 to 2.3 on a scale of 1-10.
-
Stiffness levels went from an average
of 6.7 to 2.4 on a scale of 1-10.
-
Crunching levels went from an average
of 5.1 to 2.1 on a scale of 1-10.
In this study 1 equaled no pain, stiffness
or crunching, so a 2 level of pain was nearly no pain, stiffness or
crunching. Besides Prolotherapy getting rid of the people’s neck
stiffness, crunching (crepitation), and pain, it also relieved their
anxiety and
depression, and helped them not need
pain medication or
pain therapies and helped them
sleep. The clients on average had almost
5 years of pain prior to receiving Prolotherapy and were called on the
phone for an interview 18 months after their last
Prolotherapy treatments. Guess what? The great effects of the Prolotherapy had
lasted!
People with
chronic pain, including
neck pain, should get treatments
that offer lasting results. One of the main therapies that does this is
Prolotherapy. Prolotherapy gets at the root cause of
degenerative disc disease, which is
Ligament laxity. Prolotherapy stimulates the body to
repair the painful areas. Despite having a high success rate, it also
does not cost nearly as much as treatments such as cervical epidurals.
Do you want to spend $9000 and go under general anesthesia for a
treatment that has almost no prospect of giving you long term pain
relief? I didn’t think so. Me either. A much better option for you and
others like you is Prolotherapy! |
