Positioning of the body during surgery, a cause for chronic pain

A not so well known cause of injury and chronic pain is the positioning of the body during surgery. About 2-4% of the patients seen at Caring Medical have been injured because of body positioning. Here is a recent case history.

A patient explained that they use to run marathons, but for the past three years they have not been able to exercise at all.

The patient had a vaginal hysterectomy and since that time had severe groin and pubis pain. Prior to coming to Caring Medical she estimated upwards of seeing twenty different physicians.

She had evidence of injury to her pubic symphysis which I believe occurred to her while she was in the stirrups for her vaginal hysterectomy.
Prolotherapy to her pubic symphysis and some to her other pelvic ligament support should get her completely well. I know after the first treatment she is already feeling better.

Positioning of the body during surgery, a cause for chronic pain - 2
Q. I have often wondered if my chronic groin pain was caused by poor positioning during my surgery for an inguinal hernia. I am a female who had a large inguinal hernia on my right side, and the surgeon chose to cut and separate the ileo-inguinal nerve also while doing my hernia surgery. It has been three years since the surgery, and I continue to have chronic nerve pain into the groin and pubic area.  Would Prolotherapy help this type of nerve pain?

A. We have seen many patients who had residual pain after hernia surgery.  Generally the person needs Neural Therapy to the surgical scar area and the pelvic sympathetic ganglia and Prolotherapy to the pubic symphysis.  It is probable that a Prolotherapist can get at the root cause of your continued pain.

There is no known cure for arthritis. Prolotherapy and nutritional supplements can help alleviate, reverse, or end arthritic pain by treating an underlying cause that contributes to degenerative disease, ligament laxity.
