Sacroiliac
pain after two Prolotherapy sessions
Q. How do I know if this pain and soreness, even to the touch, is actually loose
ligaments in the sacroiliac? Every time I sit down there is a tingling that goes
down my tailbone to the sitdown bones.

Sacroiliac
pain after six Prolotherapy sessions
Q. At what point-after, say, 6+ Prolotherapy treatments by an experienced
prolotherapist does one begin to consider SI (sacroiliac)
joint fixation/fusion? I am seeing some progress in terms of frequency of
recurrent sublixation of the joint, but am still in a considerable amount of
pain. I know that experiences are different, but at what point do we say that
this is as good as it can get with
Prolo?

Sacroiliac
pain after Prolotherapy
Q. I fell off a ladder onto my back in
December 1999. I had Prolotherapy for severe joint glide and the
treatment did help alot, to the point where I could return to work.
Unfortunately it did not last and my pain and glide became worse and I'm
now off work again. I returned to Prolotherapy injections with marginal
improvement but nothing close to the original success. Can you tell me
what percentage you would use for the injections? How many injections
per compromised ligament would you suggest so I can discuss this with my
Prolotherapist?

Sacroiliac Pain for 20 years and Prolotherapy
Treatments
Q. I have had
Prolotherapy
in so many area's I don't even know where to begin. Many have worked but when it
comes to the sacroiliac and lower back I'm about ready to give up! I fell of a
building site and landed on my feet, no where to break the fall safely. Ongoing
for over 20 years also on SSDI for close to 15 years. I would love to return to
work of some kind but it does not seem likely. Have I been using the wrong MD, I
have seen two and one comes very highly recommended, what to do? D in NY State.

Sacroiliac Pain after 2 and a half years of Prolotherapy
Treatments
Q. My husband has been getting
Prolotherapy
Treatment for 2
1/2 years. He seems to be getting worse instead of better. He
also gets myobloc injections to relieve him of muscle spasms.
When do we call it quits? I'm concerned for his health. Please
give me some direction. His doctor seems to think he has healed
in some places but not in others. This original injury stems
from over 10 years ago, which at that point he was only getting
cortisone shots,
from another doctor.
A. Your husband needs a
comprehensive natural medicine evaluation and treatment not
more Prolotherapy from what you have said. He has a system
problem at least causing healing deficits--but may be directly
related to his pain. He needs blood
pH testing, metabolic typing, food allergy testing and
possibly testing for hormone, neurotransmitter levels,
infections and a host of other causes (discuss this with your
physician).

Prolotherapy Helps Sacroiliac
I have had numerous treatments for
sacroiliac pain. It has helped considerably. I used to get
numbness in my right leg and after the numbness, the tingling
would come and then severe pain. The pain was so bad that I
could not walk or stand for any length of time. As soon as I sat
down, the pain would ease and the feeling would come back into
my leg. I have not counted the number of
Prolo treatments that I
received but I am quite happy with the results even though I
still have some numbness and pain. It is very minor compared to
what I used to suffer. I have had 12 years of lower back pain
and after Prolo my back pain is gone! |

Prolotherapy and
Muscle Wasting?
Q. When I went
for my first prolo therapy treatment for my sacroiliac joint I
had to sign a paper releasing the doctor for the responsibility
if I had any muscle wasting as a result of the therapy.
He said in his experiences he has seen one that had muscle
wasting. Is it possible that Prolotherapy can cause muscle
wasting? I am wondering because I have had 3 prolo treatments
and my buttock muscles are smaller and my chiropractor said one
of them is shrinking.
A. In the forty years Dr.
Hemwall (my mentor) had done
Prolotherapy and the 15 years I have done it, we have had no
muscle wasting. If a muscle is tense because it is trying to
stabilize a joint like the sacroiliac joint and the person gets
Prolotherapy which stabilizes it, the muscle spasms stop. In
this case the pain would go away and I suppose the muscle could
look less 'tense'. That is the only explanation I can think of.
We have never had a case where the needle was stuck into the
nerve and then injured the nerve causing muscle wasting.

Prolotherapy Helps
I have had SI joint dysfunction and
low back pain
for over 6 years. The pain was so bad I would wake up from pain
when turning in bed. Sneezing caused pain as did everything
else. Life was miserable. I did have lumbar radiofrequency
ablation and had some relief for about 2 weeks. After 6
Prolotherapy treatments I would describe the feeling in my back
as an ache. I am able to do yardwork, wash the car, vacuum, etc
and do not have to take pain pills at all. Prolotherapy was the
best thing I ever did for my back. I am going for 1-2 more
treatments- I am going for pain free. |

Low Back,
Buttock, Tail Bone Pain
After reading Dr. Filice's article on sacroiliac joint pain, he
said the pain is usually on either side of the low back. I do
have pain in the low back area, but it is in the total low back
area (both sides) and even tender to the touch. Also, my low
back feels very tight and I have very sore buttock muscles with
constant tingling that goes out to my hips and the bones where I
sit. When I sit for any length of time and then stand up the
tingling is terrible in the low buttock area out to the hips.
What on earth could this be? Also, it feels like the muscles
are being stretched just below the tailbone every time I sit.
Sometimes the tailbone just aches.
Do any of these conditions sound like they could possibly be
helped? I have been to over 15 different kinds of doctors,
therapists, tests, etc. and no one has given any help.

SI/hip/groin pain
I received about 6
Prolotherapy treatments last year over an 8 month period of time
for SI/hip/groin pain. I stopped prolo because I felt that,
although not free from pain and still restricted in activity, I
had achieved remarkable results...
Can you discuss the restorative phase of prolo treatment and
discuss the potential positive and negative outcomes of
initiating treatment again? Read

Prolotherapy Working - 5th series
of injections
I am getting ready to have my 5th series of
injections for sacroiliac joint dysfuntion. I have noticed a 40%
reduction in pain and have lessened my pain medication. I still
have pain but I don't feel the joint moving as much and I have
added strength. These are tiny signs, and I am nowheres near
out of pain completely, but I hope to be when I complete the 6th
injection series. It is a slow, painful process but I know that
it is working slowly and am aiming for a complete cure. I would
have like to have been the lucky person that needed only one or
two injections but I am committed to being out of pain! I may
not even need that 6th!! |

Prolotherapy Worked
I had sacroiliac pain that was so
horrible I could barely move. It lasted for years. I had
Prolotherapy treatments once a week for a few months. Today, I
am happy to say that my pain is 90% better. I can
sleep, bend
and do all the things I used to do. |
