I have frozen shoulder
(adhesive capsulitis)

Q. I thought this was caused by inflammation. If this is true, how can ADDITIONAL inflammation be helpful? I am confused.

A. Prolotherapy induces a mild inflammatory response in weakened tendons, ligaments and cartilage. The "itis" part of your capsulitis is inflammation in the shoulder capsule as a result of damaged or weakened rotator cuff tendons, specifically the supraspinatus tendon. The decreased range of motion of the shoulder is due to many factors among them the pain with external rotation of the shoulder because of the rotator cuff injury and the overtightening of the shoulder capsule. One needs Prolotherapy to the rotator cuff tendons and physical therapy to improve range of motion. Generally the combination can get back most of the range of motion and an elimination of the pain.

There is no known cure for arthritis. Prolotherapy and nutritional supplements can help alleviate, reverse, or end arthritic pain by treating an underlying cause that contributes to degenerative disease, ligament laxity. Strengthening ligaments and other connective tissue can help prevent bone on bone arthritis from developing.
