Grade 3
Shoulder Separation

Prolotherapy and Shoulder Separation
I have a grade three shoulder separation now in its ninth week. I have received weekly
physical therapy, assisted release therapy and acupuncture.  I have a very good diet and have supplemented it with mega doses of vitamins and nutrients. I have very good range of motion according to both my PT and ART treatment providers. I agree with them.

The first follow up session with my orthopedic surgeon, who is very conservative agrees with them.  My next and I believe my final exam will be next week. I discussed Prolo with him and even though he believes in the concept, he feels I do not need it because of my level of recovery/repair. I "feel" the injury periodically depending on the movement.

Three questions, 1) Where should I be in the recovery/repair process after 9 weeks 2) How do I know other than through an
MRI that the ligament is healed. 3) Can PROLO help me at this point considering I'm 9 weeks into recovery.

A. Anyone with grade 3 separation in my opinion isn't going to heal all the way in regards to strength in the tissues without Prolotherapy.  You injured, stretched, and/or torn a ton of ligament tissue and I don't care how healthy you are...if it was me I would have received about 3 Prolotherapy treatments by now...if you had you probably would know the difference, your shoulder would be a lot stronger...so the answer is a resounding yes get at least three sessions of Prolotherapy.  In regard to the MRI, please refer to this article MRI "MRI's why we don't rely on them."

There is no known cure for arthritis. Prolotherapy and nutritional supplements can help alleviate, reverse, or end arthritic pain by treating an underlying cause that contributes to degenerative disease, ligament laxity. Strengthening ligaments and other connective tissue can help prevent bone on bone arthritis from developing.
