WHY ISN'T
PROLOTHERAPY MORE WELL-KNOWN?
There are approximately 300 doctors in the country that have full-time
Prolotherapy practices. The rest
of the clinicians that do
Prolotherapy “dabble” in it. In other words,
in many areas of the country there just isn't an experienced
Prolotherapy doctor in that area. In those parts of the country,
Prolotherapy (more
information at Prolotherapy.org) isn't going to be as well known as the areas where there
are very experienced
Prolotherapy doctors.
PROLOTHERAPY
ISN'T TAUGHT IN MANY MEDICAL SCHOOLS
Basically, all the osteopathic medical schools teach about
Prolotherapy,
but the allopathic and
chiropractic
schools still generally do not teach
about
Prolotherapy. This trend is changing every year, as more and more
hospitals and teaching facilities are helping health care providers
learn about
Prolotherapy, but a lot of progress is yet to be made.
DRUG COMPANIES STILL FURNISH A LOT OF INFORMATION TO MEDICAL
PROFESSIONALS
Prolotherapy uses non-patentable solutions so there is nothing to gain
from drug companies supporting Prolotherapy. What pharmaceutical
companies promote is the use of drugs, especially
narcotics and
anti-inflammatories
for pain control. Pharmaceutical reps continually give physicians
information about how great these medications are to relieve pain that
doctors pursue this avenue of care for their patients instead of
Prolotherapy.
DRUG COMPANIES STILL FURNISH A LOT OF INFORMATION TO THE GENERAL
POPULATION
We all see the ads everywhere we look. The latest and greatest
anti-inflammatory
medication to give you relief from your
arthritis,
your
headaches, your
back pain,
your migraines….that is not the long term
answer to the problem. The answer lies in getting to the root cause of
the problem in the first place – which as stated in many of our previous
articles is
ligament and
tendon weakness and laxity. We are all constantly inundated with
“quick-fix” advertisements on the TV, magazines, radio, and even on the
billboards. This is not the answer, even though the majority of the
world might think it is. Go running to a
Prolotherapy
doctor – your health is
at stake!
